Last month I had the chance to go visit Newsong LA and talk to Adam Edgerly about how the local church can bring social justice to the city.
Here is the 4 minute cut of the interview.*

The opposite of fear is vulnerability and not courage, as many think.
We build fences and walls because we are afraid.
To tear down walls it is to be vulnerable.
We live in a society that makes bank on fear. From movies to security firms. Fear is a good business.
Now,
How would you finish the following prayer:
And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, _______________.
Protection, right?!
Our first response when facing a threat is to pray for protection.
But this is how the early church prayed when facing threats:
“And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.“ Acts 4:29 (NLT)
They chose to be vulnerable. Instead of praying for protection they prayed for boldness.
Crazy stuff huh?!

than I am with notoriety in any subculture.“

My worlds clashed and I found myself alone.
I mean, alone with you in me.
I wasn’t wrong, that’s what it seems.
I can be two in one.
Actually three.
And when the right pushes the left away,
It’s only beauty up in here.
It’s a moving photograph.
It’s a word.
It’s us and you.
It’s us.
Are you coming back?
Are you coming back for me?
My right side sees it
My left knows it
And I keep on clashing
The three of us.
